Johnson is one of the best writers who ever composed work in the English language. In this preface he discusses the previous editions of Shakespeare's plays, and provides his opinion as to an editor's duties in regard to publishing a collection of Shakespeare's plays. What, do you think I can review Samuel Johnson? Sorry, his edition has withstood 300 years of better comments than I can provide.
The formatting is reasonable.. what more can I say?
pages aren't numbered, no editing, no intro, no publisher info. not worthy of being called a book. do not buy this.
The Book was every thing I thought it would be, fast and friendly service, easy to deal with, I would use this trader again.
A poorly copied vanity press edition? Not sure what this is, but it isn't what I thought I was getting.
Johnson always wrote something worth reading and here his preface to his own edition of Shakespeare is well worth reading. It is not long but it is straight forward.
Proof that the best critics do not necessarily come from this century. Johnson provides some of the most interesting analysis of the Bard ever written. His opening paragraph alone is one of the most insightful written in the English language. Ah, to have been Boswell for a day!
